Israel at the Crossroads

US and International pressure has increased dramatically in recent months, with flash points focused on Iran and, more recently, on the Gaza flotilla. In response to this pressure, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu imposed a "settlement freeze," last December and it remains unclear whether that freeze will continue beyond the initial 10 month period, ending this coming September.

Sondra Oster Baras, a resident of Samaria, a former attorney and an advocate for the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria, will update audiences on the challenges facing Israel today, especially as they relate to the settlement movement. Baras will comment on the new constellation in US-Israeli relations and will share insights that reflect on the current situation in Israel today. Join us for what promises to be a fascinating insight into Israel's current and historical realities.

We have just learned that JFSA's food pantry is almost empty.  As you know, so many individuals and families in our community rely on JFSA's food pantry throughout the year.  Food donations tend to slow down during the summer months as summer isn't typically a giving season.  If possible, please notify your congregations about this urgent need.  Your support is much appreciated.

The pantry accepts non-perishable food items and toiletries.  Below is a list of suggestions:

tuna/salmon (protein)
canned corn
soups (especially vegetable)
cereals (hot/cold)
grains (rice, etc.)
pasta (always useful)
