HJC News- Chayei Sarah

A Cholent Kiddush this Shabbos is sponsored by Jordan and Rochie Berkowitz in honor of their daughter Tehila Yael Berkowitz.

Mazel Tov to Steve and Beth Baker on the engagement of their son Jeremy to Kara Zelman of Cleveland.

With the change in the clocks, it has become more challenging to maintain our weekday Mincha-Maariv minyan.  It is important for all of us that HJC continue to be a full service shul, with all minyanim available and reliable.  If you are not at work during this time, please consider making attendance at Mincha-Maariv a part of your routine. It's good for you, materially and spiritually, as the prayers said together with a community are guaranteed to be accepted, good for your families, and ensures the continued strength of the Kehilla.

This Thursday, at 8pm, I will be giving my weekly Shiur on Hashkafa and Parsha at the Beachwood-University Heights Kollel.  All men in the community are welcome to attend. Spread the word; among our members and also among people who you think would benefit but who don't come to our Shul.

Deena has resumed her weekly Class for women, an exploration of women in Tanach through the lens of Eishes Chayil, on Mondays at our home at 9:30am.  All women are welcome to attend and to bring their children who can play during the class.

Rosh Chodesh Kislev is this coming Thursday.

Good Shabbos

The next Simcha Kiddush will take place next Shabbos, November 19th. Please contact Esther in the office or Jason Claude to co-sponsor for any reason or occasion for as little as $18 per reason, occasion, or name.

Happy Birthday to Lena Katz.

I want to thank you for your visits, your expressions of concern, and calls and texts and emails over the past few weeks.  I have missed you all and missed being in Shul.  I look forward to seeing you this Shabbos.

With a considerable amount of trepidation, and in a move unusual for us in the Shul, I will be addressing this past week's presidential election this Shabbos during the Drasha.

Good Shabbos
