HJC News - Va'eira

The Shul is starting a new Bikur Cholim / Chesed Project in an attempt to 'be there' for our members when they are in need. If you know of a member who is ill, or is in any other way in need of assistance, please let the office, the Rabbi, or Rob know.  If you would like to assist in getting this project up and running, please contact Phil Setnik who has accepted the task of forming and directing the project.

Condolences

Condolences to Mike Swerski on the passing of his father Simon Swersky.
The funeral will take place tomorrow, Thursday January 19, at 2:00pm at Berkowitz-Kumin.
Burial at Zion Memorial Park.
Mike and his family will be sitting shiva at 2200 Kerwin, Apt 613 until next Wednesday morning.
Minyanim will be at Heights Jewish Center unless otherwise announced.

HJC News - Vayechi

Refuah Sheleima to Dr Bela Glaser and Herb Geduld.

The Shul's next Simcha Kiddush is next Shabbos, January 21.  People are invited to co-sponsor for as little as $18 an occasion or name.  

GESHER (a community chesed organization helping over 480 families) has announced a new program to assist Kollel Yungeleit and others in entering the workforce, specifically the IT and Computer Programming world.  Two of our members, Leon Adato and Phil Setnik have taken leading roles in creating and managing this project.  We invite all members to co-sponsoring part of the upcoming SIMCHA Kiddush, next Shabbos January 21, in honor of these two Baalei Chesed.  Yasher Koach.  

Deena's class on Women in Tanach through the lens of Eishes Chayil, meets at her home this Monday at 9:30 AM. Women are welcome to bring their children.


The Three Class Refresher Course in the Halachos of a Jewish Kitchen, covering the most common scenarios in Kashrus and Shabbos, 
concludes next Monday. January 16th 
8pm-9pm 
at Heights Jewish Center. 
Given by Rabbi Davidovich.
Men and women are invited and encouraged to attend. 
Sponsorships available. 
Taking the course is required for those who wish to work in the shul's kitchen


I give a weekly Shiur on Hashkafa and Parsha this Thursday at 8:00 PM at the Beachwood Kollel. All men are invited to attend. Please spread the word among members and people who could benefit from the shiur as well.
