HJC News - Matos

HJC News - Pinchas

Our condolences to Phil Setnik on the passing of his father Marvin Setnik. The funeral will take place this Sunday July 17 at 1pm at Berkowitz-Kumin. Burial at Mt Zion Cemetery.  Minyanim will be held at the home of Philip and Kimberly Setnik, 2329 Lyndway Rd., Beachwood, Ohio.  Shacharis at 7 am; (6:50am on Tuesday), Mincha-Maariv at 8:40 pm, (8:30pm on Tuesday).  

Phil will be sitting Shiva at his home: 
on Sunday from 8pm until 10pm.
Monday-Tuesday from Shacharis until 12noon and from 8pm until 10pm.
Wednesday,Thursday and Friday all day.

On Sunday afternoon after the internment until 7pm, the family will be receiving visitors in the Temple Israel social hall on Lander.

On Monday and Tuesday afternoons, Phil will be at his parents' home, 2211 Acacia Park Dr, North Building.

The Nominating Committee will make its recommendations for Officers and Board Members ahead of the October Election. This meeting is the only opportunity for members to make nominations for the Board or officers.  All members of the Shul are encouraged to attend.

The Stone Setting for Sally Steiger will take place this Sunday, July 17 at 10:30am at Bet Olam Cemetery, corner Chagrin and Richmond.

HJC News - Balak

This week, the Shabbos afternoon Navi Shiur wraps up Sefer Shmuel and will start Sefer Melachim.  Now is the perfect time to join.

At Shalosh Seudos we will continue to discuss Chapter 5 of Pirkei Avos and the life of Rabbeinu Tam.

Sunday July 17 at 9am, there will be a General Meeting of the Shul Membership. Breakfast will be served. A week from this Tuesday, July 19 is Shiva Asar B'Tammuz, a fast day and the beginning of the Three Weeks period when the custom is not to get a haircut.  Barber Shops are closed on Sunday and Monday.  So if you plan on going to the barber, next Friday is the last practical time to do it.

Safety Reminder:  The school year is over and there are many children running and biking and playing all over.  Please drive more carefully than usual, and be especially careful when getting into and out of driveways.   Make sure that your children and grandchildren are especially careful when crossing streets and intersections.

The recordings of the three classes of the recent series "The Phenomenon of Baalei Teshuva - Halacha, Challenges and Successes" are now available online, for listening and download. Email me if you are interested.

HJC News - Chukas
