HJC News - Shoftim

Refuah Sheleima to Aaron Ritzenberg.

The shul will be revising its Misheberach List this week, and then every two months or so.  No names will be on the list indefinitely.  Please contact the office if you have a name you wish to have added.

Kiddush this Shabbos is sponsored by Shimon and Rivah Schlesinger in memory of Rivah's father, Avraham Laik.

Shalosh Seudos this week is sponsored by Harold and Fayge Males in memory of Harold's sister, Faiga Bas Avraham. This week at Shalosh Seudos we will discuss Rav Shraga Feivel Mendelovitz.

Our next Hot Topics Breakfast is this Sunday September 4 at 9am.  The opening talk is entitled "Halacha, Ethics and the Frightening Future of Orthodox Judaism", followed by Q & A on this and any other topic. The breakfast is sponsored by Chuck and Sandy Zeitler, and Irwin and Lorna Shulman, in honor of their wedding anniversaries.

A Community-wide Cemetery preservation project will take place rain or shine on Sunday, September 18th from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Harvard Cemetery – 5903 Harvard Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44105.  Harvard Cemetery actually belongs to Heights Jewish Center.  Please come to to volunteer for this mitzvah.  Weed, rake, prune and beautify the grounds.  Please bring shovels, clippers, hedgers, gloves, wheelbarrows and other gardening tools.

Rosh Hashana is only four weeks away. Once again, the Shul is fortunate to have Rabbi Simcha Mann as our Chazan for the Yomim Noraim.  Please call the office to reserve your seats.

Wine orders are now being accepted until September 18th. Please contact Rob Altshuler or the office.

The auction for Aliyos for the Yomim Noraim has begun. For bidding and
 details contact Martin Lipman.

The Shul will be preparing a Yizkor Booklet for Yom Kippur as well.  Please call or come into the office between 8:30AM and 12:30PM to submit names and make donations for the booklet.  Details are available in the office.
