HJC News and Times: Shelach/Shabbos Mevorchim, and times for Korach and Chukas

Please remember, and share the following info: There is a young children's program led on Shabbos by Chaya Leba Winters from 9:15 AM to 11:30AM. Rabbi Kirsch's learning program for 6-12 year olds is in the Bais Medrash from 10:15 AM to 11:00 AM.  We want to welcome whole families to the shul. The childcare and youth programs on Shabbos are evidence of that.

This week at Shalosh Seudos, I will be speaking about the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, whose yohrtzeit is next Shabbos, 3 Tammuz.

HJC Youth Programs this Shabbos

Hello everyone,

This is just a reminder for parents and children alike that on Shabbos morning, there are a number of activities for children of all ages.

Starting at about 9:15am, we have babysitting and a program for very young children. Chaya Lieba Winters has been running the little children's group to great reviews.

At about 10:15am, world-renowned Rabbi Yossi Kirsch runs a youth group for children ages 6 and up.

Besides for the fact that the kids love being at these programs, parents are also relieved and happy to be able to daven with us, knowing that their children are well looked after, and being provided some real chinuch as well.

Good Shabbos

HJC Torah and News - Parshas Bamidbar and Shavuos

Quick thought for Parshas Bamidbar. Counting and Prioritizing.

Mazel Tov to Michael and Leah Davidson on the birth of a girl.

This Shabbos, we will have Rabbi Kirsch's group, as well as a group for younger children led by Chaya Leiba Winters. We would love to see your children.

There will be no Shalosh Seudos in Shul this Shabbos afternoon. Shalosh Seudos should be eaten at home before coming to Shul for the Navi Shiur. Ideally, Hamotzi should be said before 6pm. However, if this was not done, Shalosh Seudos should still be eaten.

As candles on Motzoei Shabbos must be lit from an existing flame, please remember to light such a flame before lighting Shabbos candles tonight. Remember to say "Baruch Hamavdil Bein Kodesh L'Kodesh" before lighting candles on Motzoei Shabbos.

The Shul will be open Shavuos night for learning.  I will be leading a Chabura starting at 12:30am. The difference between a Chabura and a Shiur/Class is that a Chabura invites and encourages all to participate in the discussion, and is not intended to be a lecture.  Space will be available for those who wish to learn alone or with a Chavrusa.

The rough schedule for the Chaburos is as follows.

12:30am - 2:00am Exploring and learning the history of Torah SheBaal Peh. (Text: Igeres Rav Sherira Gaon and others.)

2:00am- 3:30am: Chabura learning the Book of Ruth.

3:30am-5:00am: Mitzvah of Simcha on Yom-Tov. Eating meat? Drinking wine?

Sadly, it seems that we will not be having a Vasikin Minyan this year on the first day of Shavuos. But we will have the main 9am minyan, full of Simcha and Shira and hearing Matan Torah. We look forward to seeing you and your families.

Good Shabbos and Good YomTov
Rabbi Davidovich
