HJCS: DUES , SEATS, BABYSITTING, ARBAH MINIM

Good morning, everyone.
I have received calls from some members who have not received their new annual dues statements.  These went out by email the week of August 10. (they are dated as of September 1 for accounting purposes).  If you did not receive yours, it may have gone to your spam folder.  Try searching your email for a message from quickbooks@notification.intuit.com     If you do not find it there, please call Esther at 216-382-1958 and she will resend it to you.

Reminder - the annual invoice does NOT include your seats.  If you need seats for the Holidays, please contact Esther at the above number as soon as possible to make your reservations.  This new invoice does not include any old balances you may have from prior year(s).  If you have an old balance, this is due now, to remain current in your obligation as a member in good standing.

If you will be needing babysitting, we must have your children's name and ages to arrange for the proper number of sitters.  All babysitting will be by prepaid reservation ONLY.  This is necessary to allow us to hire the proper number of sitters in advance.

Lastly, Esther has started a list of those who wish to order arbah minim thru the shul.  Please let her know if you need to be added to this list.

Shana Tova,
Rob Altshuler, President

HJCS - third time's the charm

Did you ever try to do too many things at one time?......

You all now have my cell phone number - feel free to use it to say hello or to chastise me.

The correct contact information for the office and Esther is 216-382-1958.  (and I proof read it this time)

One additional note to add: If you will be attending service for the holidays and will be needing babysitting, please let Esther know ASAP!  We need to arrange for the proper number of sitters.

HJCS _ reservations, and Simcha Kiddush

Good afternoon,
As the Holy Days of Rosh Hashanna and Yom Kipur quickly approach, your officers and board are continually monitoring current conditions, with your safety and comfort as our number 1 concern.  While we continue to make plans for a return to normal davening, in our main sanctuary, complete with it's upgraded HVAC and high quality air circulation, we are aware that Ha Kadosh Baruch Hu is in total charge of this world.  With that in mind, we will keep you informed of any changes which may become necessary - IF ANY.
We are finalizing our various Baal Tefilos this week, and we can assure you that Rabbi Simcha Mann will be with us as in the past to enhance your tefilos.
It is important that you contact Esther in the office either by phone at 216-3897-3340, or in person to make your seat reservations.  HJCS , as have most shuls, has been hard hit by reduced revenue due to a year plus of Covid 19 concerns.  We hope that each and every one of you is able to join us in shul for davening.  A full sanctuary has a very special dynamic to it's prayers! However, we  know that some of you may choose to stay isolated for another year.  We ask that you consider the financial impact  of your decision, and continue to support the ongoing workings of our shul with ticket purchases, even if you choose to stay at home.

While you are contacting Esther, remember to help co sponsor this week's SIMCHA KIDDUSH, for a minimum of $18.00 per name for any special event, or just to express your thankfulness for the kindness HaShem shows you every day.

Wishing you a Shanna Tova,
Rob altshuler,
President

HJC Alliyos for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur

Dear Friend,

Once again we are conducting a silent auction via email for alliyos on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.  The alliyos available are listed below.  Bidding starts at $36 per alliyah.  We may move your bid to a different alliyah (with your permission) in order to balance them out.

We will once again make available P'sicha for Ne'ela on Yom Kippur.  This kavod will continue to be given to the Rav as it has been since I have been a member; however, we are now offering the opportunity to sponsor the Rav for this kavod.

As the Rabbi has reminded us in prior years:

The Mishna Berura (Ch.584:S.K.8) quotes the great compendium on all Yomim Noraim matters, the Mateh Ephraim, as follows:

"It is appropriate for every G-d fearing man to make an effort to get an Aliyah on the Yomim Noraim (Rosh Hashana or Yom Kippur). Even in places where the Aliyos are usually auctioned off [to the wealthy], one should "purchase" an Aliya for that time of year for as much as his means allow.

"[And lest one think that there is something degrading about purchasing an Aliyah at such a holy time of year, the truth is] just the opposite: There is greater spiritual advantage in a Mitzvah that comes one's way through monetary expenditure than in a Mitzvah that has come one's way free of charge."

If you are interested in taking the initiative in acquiring this merit for yourself or someone else and investing in our Kehilla at the same time, please call the office (216-382-1958), or contact Martin Lipman at martin.lipman@sbcglobal.net.
