  • 12:15-12:30(prox) Heights Jewish Center in the parking lot following services
  • 3:00 pm
    • Mike Swirski  4437 Silsby, University Heights

Fwd: An Open Letter from 60 Doctors to Cleveland’s Orthodox Jewish Community

I am forwarding this letter to our members and Friends.  Please take the time to read it.  Rob Altshuler.

Dear Community Synagogue:

I write this email as a one of a number of local physicians who are deeply concerned about the risk of a new outbreak of COVID19 in the Cleveland Orthodox Jewish community.  This threat is more acute in light of the upcoming holidays and the general loosening of infection control standards that appears to be the evolving norm.

Attached is an open letter, signed by 60 medical professions from a range of specialities,  to warn the community about the need to remain vigilant in all of the necessary infection control measures.  We have highlighted several specific examples of problematic behavior, not to point fingers, but as an attempt to plug significant gaps in our preparedness for a disease that is still very dangerous. We do not represent a specific ideological or religious viewpoint - what unifies us is concern for our community.

We ask that you post this letter in a prominent location and distribute as widely as possible.

May we be blessed with a year of good health and safety

Hjcs dedication / donation opportunity

Good evening Friends.

With the approaching Holidays, we have been busy preparing the building for the best possible experience, given the safety restrictions  necessary.
We have purchased needed machitzas, added plexiglass  protective barriers, and added more sanitizer locations.  In addition, we will have added security during services for your safety, so you can concentrate on the reason you come to shul- without distraction.
All these items come with a price tag.  Additionally, We are operating on a smaller budget due to lost revenue from rentals and catering among other things.
Notwithstanding all this, we are committed to providing you with the best davening experience possible!

Please open your hearts and help to sponsor the improvements mentioned above.  You can earmark your donation thru paypal via our website, or you can drop a check in the mail.

Hatares Nedarim

Rabosai,
The usual method for "hatares nedarim" has the inherent problem of sitting close together indoors (In view of today's social distancing requirements).  Therefore, at the conclusion of shachris this coming Friday morning (ever Rosh Hashanah), we encourage you to go outside in small groups, socially distanced, and    continue there.   Those of you who are not attending indoor services with us are welcome to meet in the parking lot to participate.
As usual, please wear your face covering.

HJCS High Holidays - some needed information attached

(Please click on the link below to read this in the original format)                                       September 14, 2020

Dear member, / friend of HJCS,

In order to have this year's holidays run as smoothly as possible, with the changes necessitated to comply with all safety concerns related to the spread of Covid 19, this letter will outline some information you may need.

·         Only those with pre reserved seats will be admitted to the shul.  Please call the shul to reserve a seat or to inquire if there are still seats available, as all available seating has been reserved due to social distancing restrictions.

·         All men are to enter thru the parking lot entrance.  There will be a seating chart available to help you locate your seat.  Your seat may not be in your prior year location, as we needed to allocate seating to accommodate the maximum number of people.  Men can access the restroom on the main floor, or use the rear stairwell to access the lower level bathroom.

·         All women sitting in the balcony are to enter thru the Cedar Road entry.  There will be a guard at this entry throughout services.  A seating chart will be available to help you locate your seat.  Women sitting upstairs are requested to use the lower level restroom.

·         All women sitting on the main floor are to enter thru the parking lot entrance.   Women on the main floor are requested to use the main floor restroom.

·         There will be no socializing or casual wandering within the building

·         Youths are expected to remain in services and under the supervision of parents

·         Masks must be worn, covering both your mouth and your nose at all times while in the building

·        Services will begin at 9:00 with Ha Melech. The shul will be open at 8:00 for those of you who wish to daven Pesukei D'zimra in the shul rather than at home.  Services should end about 12:15 pm.  On Sunday, another Shofar blowing will follow outside in the parking lot.
