Recording of Sheloshim for Rabbi Marc Messing Z"L

Here is the link to the Shloshim event that was held on Sunday April 18 for my father-in-law, Rabbi Marc Messing Z"L. Many of you who had the opportunity to meet him and speak with him got to know how wonderful he was.  At the Sheloshim, his family and many of his closest friends revealed many facets of his life and personality from which the world can still benefit.

HJC News - Acharei-Kedoshim

Welcome to our new members, Rabbi and Mrs Barry Reichman.

Please be aware that we have slightly altered our seating policies. Instead of specific seats marked, we have now opened the whole row for seating. In doing so, we are relying on our members and visitors to abide by safe distancing practices.

As well, this is our first week welcoming back kiddush! After davening we will go outside and Kiddush will be made outside. There will be a table set with pre-packaged kugel and pastries so that we can nosh and enjoy some time together after davening.

This Shabbos afternoon after Mincha, we will look into chapter 3 of Pirkei Avos, and speak about Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai. Lag B'Omer is next Friday.

Rebbetzin Deena Davidovich has resumed her Monday morning shiur for women
 by giving a series of classes on Pirkei Avos. The classes will be held in the Shul social hall (with all the rules etc.) this coming Monday April 26 at 9:30am, and then on Mondays May 3 and May 10 at 9:30am.

The shiur will be l'iluy nishmas Rebbetzin Davidovich's father, Harav Mordechai Hershel Ben Shmuel David.

surprise scrapbook

Harold and Faige Males have been long time members of Heights Jewish Center. They will be making Aliyah to Israel this Summer. We would like to give them a scrapbook in which they can remember the shul and its members. Please pick up your page for the scrapbook from the office, decorate it and bring the page back to the office or even write on a piece of paper and we will place it in the book. The message should be a memory or good wishes for a tzeischem l'shalom. Any photographs are welcome. Deadline is  May 25th. Thank you all in advance for participating.

Sincerely,

Melanie Muller

 Please keep this a surprise.

HJC News - Shemini - Shabbos Mevorchim Iyar

Starting today, we are resuming early minyanim on Friday night. Mincha today is scheduled for 6:30pm. Last year, our experience in getting a minyan on Friday night was a struggle, due to the corona thing and also the fact that a number of our regulars do not take in Shabbos early. Many of our regulars are back, but we would definitely appreciate a strong struggle-free attendance.
////
This Shabbos is Shabbos Mevorchim. Rosh Chodesh Iyar is this coming Monday and Tuesday, April 12-13.
////
During Shalosh Seudos time this Shabbostomorrow, we will learn a niggun,  we will learn something from the first chapter of Pirkei Avos, and I will speak about Rabbi Avigdor Miller z"l, whose yortzeit is the 27th of Nissan.
////
Rebbetzin Deena Davidovich will be resuming her Monday morning shiur for women by giving a series of classes on Pirkei Avos. The classes will be held in the Shul social hall (with all the rules etc.) starting this coming Monday April 12 at 9:30am, and then on Mondays April 26, May 3 and May 10 at 9:30am.

The shiur will be l'iluy nishmas Rebbetzin Davidovich's father, Harav Mordechai Hershel Ben Shmuel David.
////
Starting this coming week, I plan to resume my online shiurim, including some scheduled Zoom classes with participation.  Any input on what topics and times are prefered by people is very welcome. Since Zoom is a different format, I don't want to assume that what duration and topics worked in person would work online. So I invite you all to share your thoughts with me.
////
Please remember to send in your Yizkor pledges if you haven't already done so.

Good Shabbos
Rabbi Davidovich
