HJC News - Parshas Noach

Mazel Tov to Alex and Betty Schnittlinger on the engagement of their granddaughter Sorah Stoll to Yosef Gershon Efroymson of Cleveland Heights.

A Cholent Kiddush this Shabbos is sponsored by Shami and Chani Kirsch in honor of their daughter Devorah Miriam.

Shalosh Seudos is sponsored by Rabbi Jason and Sandra Claude l'zekher nishmat Maran HaRav Ovadiah Yoseph ben Ya'aqov  ZT"L.

This year, the Parsha Shiur which meets on Shabbos morning at 8:30am, will focus on the deep Chassidishe insights of the sefer Torah Ohr on the parsha.  This coincides with the Heights Coffee Club. Mezonos refreshments for those who need some calories and need to eat before davening will be there as well.

In an effort to help and encourage families, we have child care available on Shabbos morning; younger children have a program run by Chaya Leba Winters. And Rabbi Kirsch runs a stellar youth program starting at 10am.

Until the clocks change, the earliest time to put on Tallis and Tefillin is quite late. This coming week, Monday-Friday Shacharis will start at 6:50am.  Brochos on Tallis and Tefillin should be only made at the end of Psukei D'Zimrah.

The latest podcasts are online. There are several new recordings, which can be accessed

HJC News - Parshas Bereishis - Shabbos Mevorchim

This Shabbos marks the beginning of a new Torah cycle, with Parshas Bereishis. This year, the Parsha Shiur which meets on Shabbos morning at 8:30am, will focus on the deep Chassidishe insights of the sefer Torah Ohr on the parsha.  A variety of coffees will be available. Mezonos refreshments for those who need some calories in their system before davening will be there as well. *The idea of eating (or offering) food before Davening is not without halachic concerns, and should only be done after consulting with your rabbi.  Thanks to Michael Davidson for suggesting the coffee club idea. We always appreciate initiative.  And of course, gratitude to Dr Glaser A"H, whose bequest to the shul is commemorated with the naming of the shiur he attended so faithfully for many years.

In an effort to help and encourage families, we have child care available on Shabbos morning; younger children have a program run by Chaya Leba Winters. And Rabbi Kirsch runs a stellar youth program starting at 10am.

Refuah Sheleima to Alvin Cohen.

Mazel Tov to Barbara Schlesinger on the birth of a great granddaughter, Sara. Parents are Netanel and Rivka Behboudnia.

During the week, and until the clocks change, the earliest time to put on Tallis and Tefillin is quite late. During our Monday-Friday Shacharis, Brochos on Tallis and Tefillin should be only made at the end of Psukei D'Zimrah.

This Shabbos is Shabbos Mevorchim Marcheshvan. Rosh Chodesh is this Tuesday and Wednesday. Shacharis will be at 6:40am on those days.

This Shabbos at Shalosh Seudos, I will speak about Rebbi Nachman of Breslov, whose yohrtzeit was on Succos, and share and teach one of his niggunim.

Good Shabbos

HJC News - Parshas Haazinu and Succos

Quick thought for Parshas Haazinu: Unlimited Tokens

Our youth program led by Rabbi Kirsch, and program for younger children, led by Chaya Leba Winters, continue this Shabbos. We love seeing your kids in Shul.

The Parsha Shiur, named for Dr Bela Glaser A"H, with coffee and refreshments for those who need some calories or caffeine in their system before davening, meets at 8:30am on Shabbos morning. Please partake even if you're not at the shiur. Thank you to Michael Davidson and Rob Altshuler.

This Shabbos at Shalosh Seudos I will be speaking about Rabbi Shmuel Schneersohn, the Rebbe Maharash, the fourth Chabad Rebbe, whose yahrzeit is this Shabbos.

The Lulavim and Esrogim will be available on Sunday morning and before Mincha.

Save the date: Deena and I will be hosting a gathering in our Succah next Shabbos afternoon. Exact time will be announced next week.

Our next Simcha Kiddush will be on Simchas Torah!  We'll have refreshments, with your support, all through hakafos!  Please submit names for sponsorships to the Office soon!  Minimum donation is $18 per name honored in the Simcha Kiddush - the more names we list (and the more sponsors we get), the bigger and better the refreshments!  Let's make this the best Simchas Torah ever!
