HJC Succos Torah: Living in a cloud

Here's the last video before Succos. Only 8 minutes long.

I've written some of the halachic content in the email below. But the video has more, and also has a short Drasha.

Hello everyone,
A few points to remember. This is not a comprehensive list of halachos for Succos. I am only listing items that I think may be overlooked or forgotten. Please contact me with any other shailos you may have.

Tonight is the first day of Succos. It is both Shabbos and YomTov. So the Amidah's are all YomTov Amidahs (Artscroll p660) with Shabbos additions, and not vice-versa. Minhag Ashkenaz is to skip Kabbalas Shabbos until Mizmor Shir, and then to skip Bameh Madlikin and go straight to Maariv. Barchu is only said in a minyan. After Birchos Krias Shema, both "Veshamru" and "Vayidabeir" are said, even with no minyan.

Kiddush tonight in the Succah is the YomTov Kiddush with Shabbos additions, including "Yom Hashishi Vayechulu.." Tip: Don't wing it. Find it in your siddur or Machzor and follow the instructions there.

Add both Retzei and Yaaleh VeYavo to Bikrkas Hamazon.

On Shabbos, the Lulav etc are Muktzah. We do not take the Arba Minim on Shabbos.

Ideally, Shalosh Seudos should begin before 4:45pm.  If this proves unfeasible, Shalosh Seudos may still be eaten, just making sure not to eat too much, we want to retain an appetite for the night meal.

Kiddush on Saturday night is YaKNeHaZ, incorporating Havdala elements.  Again, don't wing it: follow the siddur or machzor instructions. Make the Shehechayanu before Leisheiv.

On Sunday morning, the brachos and taking lulav should be in the succah ideally.
